have space for 18% of the just over one million
Grade 12’s completing their schooling yearly.
Of the 18%, only 9% obtain degrees. The Skills
Development Centre has a vision to shift that
statistic.
The community leader and headmaster for
Kwena Molopo School, Mr Michael Malingana,
voiced his concern that, because of the lack
of opportunity, so many of our young people
end up in gangsterism and prostitution. It was
suggested that the Tiitetso Projects Skills
Development Centre provide skills to target the
needs in the community.
I spoke to one of the guests from the American
School and this student has a dream to start a
project against gender based violence. Her plan
is to do it one cake at a time - to bake a birthday
cake for a child in the community and support
them and educate them on how to deal with
gender based violence.
It is with great excitement that we can expect
many more ideas and inspirations coming out of
the Skills Development Centre.
A special thank you to the guests and
community leaders who came out to support us
in this new venture.
