Custom-built structures
In keeping with the highly personalised nature
of weddings, this year’s events are taking it up a
notch, with couples holding their special day in
        custom-built structures that push boundaries.

Instead of renting a plain white tent for an al fresco
celebration, many couples are hosting their events
in architectural, one-of-a-kind places. We’re talking
        colourful truss structures and unconventionally
        shaped greenhouses, for example.

Meanwhile, innovative flooring in an array of
colours and prints – whether it covers a venue’s
pre-existing woodwork or it is incorporated into an
outdoor structure – is also gaining traction.

        Layered linens
The tabletops at wedding receptions are brimming
with depth and dimension, thanks to layered
fabrics in various colours, prints and materials.
Couples are now wrapping their reception tables in
tabletops topped with linen runners and napkins.
Wedding décor practitioners have been layering
different yet complementary patterns and textures
to create a more visually dynamic tablescape. For
instance, a light blue satin tablecloth that’s stacked
with a striped white runner and ultra-fine beige
napkins looks unified and visually striking at a
        wedding reception.

        Immersive lighting
Weddings in the foreseeable future will
        emphasise lighting. With candlelit pathways,
lamp-lined tables and crystal chandeliers, the
light fixtures that a couple choose will help them
produce the ambience they are going for, from
        romantic to moody.

When paired with an exclusively designed dinner
        reception complete with orchestrated dinner
service and a wonderful musical soundtrack, it
provides the wow factor that elevates the guests’
        experience.

        DIY décor
One of the biggest shifts in wedding décor this
year has been the move towards eco-conscious
        and nature-inspired set-ups. Couples have
started to ditch artificial decorations in favour of
lush greenery, wooden elements and impressive
        outdoor venues.

        Moreover, minimalist elegance and do-it-yourself
(DIY) décor are gaining in popularity, allowing for
personalisation while keeping the budget in check.

DIY décor is all about adding personal and
        heartfelt touches to wedding celebrations.
Employing it for the celebrations enables couples
to infuse their own creativity and individuality into
the nuptials, making their day that much more
        special and meaningful.
