The enclosure can be built as a modular or
unitary unit using high grade steel, including 3CR12
steel which is a chromium-containing corrosion-
resisting ferritic steel. 3CR12 was developed as
an alternative material of construction where
the mechanical properties, corrosion-resistance
and fabrication requirements of other materials
such as mild steel, galvanised or aluminised steel,
aluminium or pre-painted steels are unsuitable.
Enclosures are sandblasted and painted with
a high quality paint specified for rust prevention.
Standard paint thickness tests are routine at ArmCoil.
LV and MV cabinet doors and locking
mechanism are designed around specific Typical mining complex MV-MSS
requirements. This also includes various IP ratings
for the enclosure. The transformer bay area can
be fitted either with an oil cooled or dry type
transformer utilising mesh type doors. In an oil
cooled transformer option, a self-bunded oil system
is offered. Self-bunded tanks are also referred to
as double-walled tanks and have an inner and
outer tank with a gap in between that has the
capacity of 110% of the inner tank. The space
between the inner tank and outer wall catches any
leakages, consequently reducing the chances of
environmental contamination or loss of product.
The transformer bay area also offers pest
resistant features preventing rat, bird, and snake
nesting infestations. Protection and monitoring
equipment such as ground busbars, inverter inputs
and terminals, molded case circuit breaker (MCCB)
and air circuit breakers (ACB) can be fitted into the LV Typical distribution network transformers
cabinet and other additional equipment as required.
The MV cabinet is also fitted with a distribution
cabinet, ground busbars, auxiliary transformer,
switchgear and communication equipment.
Container type or E-house type MV substations
are also available, depending on customer
requirements.

technical schedule submissions for approval prior
to manufacturing. ArmCoil also adheres to IEC and
SANS specifications which are considered in every
design completed for manufacturing.
