DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Africa’s digital future is being built

        under constraint

frica’s digital economy is expanding quickly, but the Reliable electricity is not guaranteed. Backup systems
reality on the ground is more complex. Data demand are essential. Cooling is more demanding in warmer
Ais rising, cloud adoption is accelerating, and industries climates. Each of these adds cost and complexity.
are pushing towards more connected, intelligent systems.
“You can build the facility, but you have to build

Africa is building digital infrastructure under constraints most
developed markets don’t face at the same scale. Power is
inconsistent. Connectivity is uneven. Skills are in short supply.
Investment is moving, systems are evolving, and a different
approach to digital growth is taking shape.

        It responds to local realities.

        Infrastructure, built differently
The growth of data centres across Africa is a clear indicator of
where the market is heading. From hyperscale developments
to smaller regional facilities, there is a push to increase
compute capacity and reduce reliance on infrastructure
        outside the continent.

Capacity alone doesn’t solve the problem.

Africa still accounts for a small share of global compute power
relative to its population. The gap is not only financial. It is
shaped by the conditions these facilities operate in.
