In my travels, I come across companies that make
me pause, take a step back and go, “BEEP!
Now this is something worth watching.”
H3iSquared is one of those.
Founded in 2006, the name
draws from H 2O.
The formula:
honesty, humility,
humour and
integrity, with
integrity carrying
the weight. As founder
Doron Kowensky puts it, without it,
the rest falls away.
The business began with
Ruggedcom industrial networking
equipment from Canada, first
applied in mining. It quickly found its
place in electrical power infrastructure,
where conditions are harsher and
expectations higher.

An early contract with Eskom followed. The work centred on
network design, troubleshooting and deployment, alongside
engineers working in environments where failure carries real
consequences.
When Siemens acquired Ruggedcom in 2011, H3iSquared
continued with the range in the region, building a long-
standing relationship with Siemens Canada.
Projects have since stretched across South Africa, Namibia,
Zambia, Botswana, Ghana and Nigeria, often alongside
integrators responsible for communications networks that
need to hold.
Current work includes industrial networking, substation
communications, rugged infrastructure and consulting, with
added depth in engineering development and PCB design.
The twentieth year is being marked over time, with attention
on the people, partnerships and work that built the
business.
Next on the table: industrial cybersecurity,
smart grid communications, renewable
energy infrastructure and expanded engineering
services across Africa.
In these environments, reliability is non-negotiable.
That’s where H3iSquared earns its place.
