ABOUT
KUMON BLUE
HILLS STUDY
CENTRE
elcome to the Blue Hills Study
Centre. We opened our doors in
W2017 at the Blue Hills Shopping
Centre, which offers ample free parking and
shopping convenience to parents who are
waiting for their children to complete their
Kumon study session.
Our vision is to ensure that each and every
one of our students is nurtured to become
smarter through self-study. Children become
smarter through studying work which is
appropriate for their individual level of ability
and development. Children who are able to
self-study beyond school grade level are able
to meet the challenges of school, university
and life head on.
This is what I believe every parent wants for
their child and I, as your Kumon Instructor, feel
privileged to participate in the attainment of
these goals.
Meet the Instructor
My name is Lorné Golden. I studied Drama at Rhodes
University, Grahamstown. It was during my drama studies
that I realised that I enjoyed working with children; not in a
traditional classroom situation but guiding them to develop
through experiential learning.
When I joined Kumon as a staff member in 2010, Kumon gave
me the opportunity to develop children by working with
them on an individual basis. I came to understand that each
child truly has infinite potential and that the Kumon method
serves as a catalyst to unlock that potential.
I joined Kumon is 2010 and during my time at Kumon I have
worked as an Area Manager directly with the centres and
was able to observe many, many students. I also worked with
instructors to find ways of developing each child according
to their individual ability.
I ran Rondebosch Study Centre in Cape Town for two years,
which gave me experience as an instructor and made me
realise how much fun it is to work with children!
In 2015, I was promoted to Branch Leader in Johannesburg.
This role gave me a greater overview of Kumon centres and
the development of students.
By opening my own Kumon centre I have a more direct
impact on each child's growth and can go on a journey with
each family as a family, in a joint venture towards completion
of the programmes.
I look forward to being part your
child's Kumon journey.
