pproaching sixteen years in
service of African fashion, EVERYTHING YOU
Africa Fashion International
has championed an enduring NEED TO KNOW
vision of African luxury fashion,
both locally and globally. Each
year, AFI brings this mission ABOUT JOBURG
Ainto action through the annual
Joburg and Cape Town Fashion Weeks, curating an FASHION WEEK
exuberant collection of fashion stories from all corners
of the continent. This year, 8-12 November, AFI’s
Annual Joburg Fashion Week will take place at the
Forum Campus in Bryanston.
As is tradition, Joburg Fashion Week will have a Fashion
and Retail focus, returning with classic runway shows,
an expo and marketplace, including a pop-up by AFI’s
luxury concept store, House of Nala. Here, attendees
will have the opportunity to invest in pieces fresh off
the runway through our Shop the Runway offering. In
its emphasis on retail as a key pillar of fashion week,
Joburg Fashion Week takes AFI’s investment in pan-
African artistry and craftsmanship a little further than
curated fantasies on the runway. It embraces fashion
as a key sector of business and a valuable addition to
the continent’s creative economy.
According to CEO and Executive Chairperson of AFI,
Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe:
“We bridge the gap between the
business of Fashion and creative
minds. The AFI platform leverages
our world-class marketing
Fashion Week to translate
into sales through focused
strategies that put the
customer at the centre of all
our activities.”
Johannesburg has long
been recognised as the
home of pioneering African
fashion, defined by cosmopolitan
sensibilities and a hunger for newness,
sophistication and energy – the fashionable
intersection of the best that the continent has to offer.
This year, the palatial halls of the Forum | Campus in
Bryanston will play host to this annual event. Boasting
picture-perfect natural light and state-of-the-art
technology, this venue embodies the perfect blend of
vitality and style that Johannesburg represents.
Joburg Fashion Week will be enriched with off-site
shows, workshops, exhibitions, as well as the return of
the iconic AFI Masterclass series – a dialogue between
industry professionals, in which fashion comes front
and centre as a catalyst for change, socio-economic
development and thought-leadership.
