VINEYARD VILLAGE GARDEN PROJECT

ome five to six years ago the
Vineyard Village Garden Com-
Smittee launched their garden
project. The aim of the project was
and still is the continuous renewal of
the common gardens in the Village
and to establish gardens that will
display South Africa’s rich variety of
fauna and flora for the pleasure of its
inhabitants and visitors, concentrat-
ing primarily on the fauna and flora
of the Highveld region.

The following guidelines had to be
adhered too:

- Plant indigenous plants,
shrubs and trees only. Over
time the invaders will be
removed were possible

- All new plantings must be
water wise and no annuals
will be planted, only peren-
nials.
