                  e are most
                  fortunate
                  to have the
       WSesmuil-
       spruit bordering our estate
       on the eastern side. The
       river runs directly from
       the Rietvlei Dam in the
       Rietvlei Nature Reserve
       and because of this,
       it has relatively clean
       and uncontaminated
       water. The advantage
       of this is that during
       floods, the river bank is
       not contaminated with
       unsightly rubbish that we
       can see so clearly further
       downstream where the
       Olifantspruit joins the
       Sesmuilspruit to become
       the Hennopsrivier.
       We have all seen the
       unsightly aftermath of
       the recent floods to the
       Golf and Southdowns
       Estates.

       Land’s End is a beautiful
       nature area with tree-
       shaded walks on the river
       bank, a large grassy area
       and some braai facilities
       that are unfortunately
       under-used by the
       residents. There are also
       ablution facilities.

All it takes to access this
area is a phone call to
       the security office and a
       guard will be dispatched
       to come and open up
       the gate. Care should be
       taken because the river
       can run very forcefully
       sometimes and it could
       be dangerous as some
       areas have very steep
       banks with no fencing.

       Once inside, the gate will
       be locked again. This is
       perhaps a matter that
       management can have a
look at to make entry and
       exit easier for interested
       residents.
