THE BIG PICTURE
This Malachite Kingfisher, perched at the
Malachite Hide in Wilderness, showcases
a moment of pure predatory instinct.
Having just emerged from the water with a
small fish in its beak, it prepares to deliver
the final blow. Notice the water droplets
glistening in the air, a testament to its
impressive dive. The partially closed eyes,
protected by the nictitating membrane (a
second eyelid in birds), further illustrate
its focus on the task at hand. This image
perfectly captures the bird’s vibrant beauty,
together with its impressive hunting
prowess.
