We recently celebrated the
remarkable life of Rod Walker,
a beloved Cornwall Hill resident
who had turned 75! From his
Glasgow roots, Rod’s journey is
nothing short of extraordinary. His
passion for hospitality led him from
the bustling kitchens of Scotland to
the heart of the African hospitality
industry. With a career spanning over six
decades, including stints in prestigious
hotels and casinos across Southern Africa,
Rod’s impact on the industry is undeniable.
His entrepreneurial spirit brought us the much-
loved Karoo Grill and Bar, a local favourite. As
Rod prepares to embrace retirement in the sunny
climes of Mauritius, we raise a glass to this
charismatic and inspiring man.
