Across the table, the lamb curry and
chicken tikka were demolished with much
enthusiasm. Both came exactly as ordered
— medium heat that was bold but not
overwhelming. That’s the beauty of Taste of
Punjab: whether you’re a spice lightweight
like me or someone who wants the full fiery
experience, every dish can be ordered mild,
medium, or hot. It takes the stress out of
choosing and makes the whole table happy.
And then there was the garlic and cheese
naan. If you know me, you know this is my
ultimate weakness. Golden, gooey, and
impossible to resist, it was the dish I kept
reaching for long after I’d told myself to stop.
If naan could be a love language, this one
spoke directly to me.
By the end of the evening, we’d had a meal
that felt both satisfying and easy. Prices are
exactly what you’d expect for proper Indian
cooking, portions are generous, and the
whole experience leaves you feeling well
looked after without breaking the bank.

The staff added to that sense of ease
straight away. Friendly without hovering,
quick with menus, and happy to explain spice
levels (a lifesaver for someone like me, who
loves Indian food but breaks into a sweat at
the first sign of chilli). Nothing was rushed,
and there was no sense of being pushed
through the motions. It’s the kind of service
that lets you relax into the evening and
actually enjoy the company you’re with.
To start, we were given complimentary
pappadums — light and crisp, the kind that
disappear far too quickly if you’re not careful.
I exercised rare restraint, because I knew
more was coming. We ordered samoosas for
the table, and they were everything you want
them to be: straight from the pot, perfectly
crisp, not oily, with just the right spice to
please everyone around the table. Sharing
them felt like the perfect icebreaker for the
meal ahead.
For mains, I played it safe — as always —
