4 hours in on a migraine with impaired vision
in one eye, in the spirit of Ubuntu, I kitted up
again and picked up the remaining 6,4km
on my treadmill. I’ve run a marathon at a
better pace, so this 2nd run was just about
completing the mileage and taking our team
to the nish line. Failure was not an option. I
hope that Madiba was proud.”
Sian Clarke organised a very successful
campaign for our four-legged friends.
She collected food and blankets for the
Dogs Trust and 4PAWS (see page 18 for
more about these initiatives).
Vanessa Valente collected for SA Harvest,
Green Door Shelter, Cradle of Hope
Shelter and Hearts of Hope orphanage.
Debbie Hayward and Kerrin Bain
collected sandwiches, non-perishable
food, fruit, care products and clothing for
Community Angels. Their contributions
went to the victims of shack fires in
Diepsloot and Kya Sands. The most
amazing thing was that their collection
the following Tuesday was even bigger
than the Mandela Day collection. It just
goes to show the generosity and kindness
of this amazing community!!
