FOUR WAYS TO
A HAPPY MIND
AND BODY
B Y MICHELLE L R A YMOND
A re you feeling run down? It would not be
surprising after a year like this. Some serious
TLC is necessary.
What’s good is that summer is on the doorstep and
that in itself is a mood booster. But with the stresses of
lockdown, the resultant overeating and restrictions to
being outdoors, summer might not be a welcoming idea.
So, how can we remedy this and move towards 2021 with
rejuvenated energy and a positive outlook on the future?
Here are four ways to improve the quality of your mind
and body.
ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR JOURNEY
This year has been hard in so many unexpected ways. And
often when we face trials and hardships, the memories
stick like cement, weighing down any chance of hope
and reconciliation. So moving forward, acknowledge
what happened but know that it need not de ne the
future. Each new day is an opportunity to create a new
life.
TAKE A BREAK
After being cooped up for so long, it's now time to get a
change of scenery, some fresh air and open space. Even a
mini-break can do wonders.
GET SOME REST
Without rest, the body and the mind cannot function
optimally. Unfortunately, in our society, rest is seen as
a luxury. Hence the high levels of stress, anxiety and
depression.
"Rest is the foundation of all activity." - Sadhguru.
MOVE YOUR BODY
Getting into shape, losing weight or joining a dance class
is great, but this refers to something more fundamental;
that the body is a machine. And like all machines, it needs
regular oil changes, cleans, maintenance and repair work
to keep it running at its peak performance. It is a dynamic
and complex system that is capable of extraordinary
things.
Take care of it, and it will take care of you.
