WINE TASTING

Saturday 5 August

eturning to a Saturday, our August wine tasting event
showcased the exceptional wines from Hartenberg Wine
Estate. Founded in 1692, Hartenberg has a rich history.
RFrom the second half of the 20th century, the estate was
regenerated by the famous Finlayson family, and under Carl Schultz
it has become a renowned producer of fine South African wines.

Heleen Rabe, marketing and sales director for Hartenberg Wine
Estate, was our presenter for the night. Her passion for wine in
general and for the wines being sampled was evident. We tasted the
bold and big-hitting Eleanor Chardonnay and the Megan Bordeaux
Blend. These premium wines went down well with the crowd – so
much so that many of us purchased bottles for ourselves.

The Doorkeeper blend of Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Grenache had its
supporters too, as did the Merlot, Shiraz and Riesling varieties.

With 10% off the listed price being offered on the night, Mario from
MJM Wine Co was kept on his feet as residents happily forked out for
these exceptional wines.

Tyson Properties had a hamper available for the lucky draw, and
Heleen added a bottle of Shiraz and a bottle of Eleanor Chardonnay.
Jason McPherson was this month’s lucky winner and had this to say:
“Thanks for a great wine evening last night. We thoroughly enjoyed it
[and] are thrilled with the hamper ... it’s amazing.”
