            ST PETER’S PREP SCHOOLS, NURTURING

                   FUTURE ECO-CONSCIOUS LEADERS

A s an Anglican school with strong

                values rooted in responsibility,
                compassion
                             and
                                   respect,
                becoming an Eco-School was
a natural extension of our mission. Our
journey began in 2015, when we joined the
WESSA Eco-Schools Programme, part of the
         international Foundation for Environmental
         Education (FEE) network spanning 70
countries and over 56,000 schools. The
programme is focused on greening our
campus, as well as empowering our students
         to become conservation champions and
         connecting classroom learning with hands-
         on environmental action. Through the
dedication of our Eco-Committee, we now
proudly hold Diamond Decade status as an
         Eco-School for over 10 years.

Sustainability at St Peter’s is seen and felt
         in the following initiatives:
         • Eco-friendly practices: We’ve replaced all
cleaning products with 100% organic, eco-
          friendly alternatives. Waste is separated
          into recyclable categories on-site and
          recycling bins are available everywhere.
         • Water-wise systems: Borehole water
nourishes our gardens and fields, while
JoJo tanks collect rainwater for toilet
flushing. We are excited to soon convert
our borehole water into potable water for
          the entire campus, dramatically reducing
our reliance on municipal water while
          showcasing practical sustainability in
          action.
         • Beehives: We have several beehives
which serve to support the campus eco-
system and to produce our own honey
with unique flavours from our campus’s
          indigenous plants.
         • Energy management: Solar panels power
          certain buildings and a sophisticated
          monitoring system tracks water and
electricity usage, helping us reduce our
          footprint.
         • Plastic reduction: We’ve made bold The Impact Challenge – Children leading the way
moves — banning balloons and glow We believe that children learn best when they are part of the solution. Our annual
sticks. These single-use plastics, harmful to Impact Challenges provide powerful, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, critical
marine life and the environment, no longer thinking and action.
have a place in our celebrations.
