           SIQALO FOODS




           The Siqalo Foods project in East Boksburg represented more than just a landscape
           upgrade  –  it  was  the  transformation  of  an  industrial  site  into  a  brand-inspired
           showcase. Acton Gardens, in collaboration with Real Green, was tasked with creating
           a bold, sustainable and cohesive landscape that tied together old structures with

           new developments, while reflecting the company’s ethos of growth and renewal.

                                                                                     entrance gates, parking areas and
                                                                                     office spaces.
                                                                                       While the existing building
                                                                                     carried the weight of history, the
                                                                                     client wanted the landscaping to
                                                                                     deliver an immediate “wow” factor.
                                                                                     The renovation left some areas
                                                                                     stripped bare, while others were
                                                                                     overgrown and neglected.  This
                                                                                     presented an opportunity to create
                                                                                     a cohesive landscape that not only
                                                                                     elevated the property but also
                                                                                     reflected the new brand identity.

                                                                                     Brief
                                                                                     The client’s brief was  ‘clear yet
                                                                                     liberating’,  according  to Sarah
                                                                                     Vermaak, MD of Acton Gardens.
                                                                                     They wanted the landscape to
                                                                                     make a bold, lasting impression that
                                                                                     would uplift the older buildings
                                                                                     and tie them together with the
                                                                                     new construction. It needed to be
                                                                                     eye-catching,  hard-wearing  and
                                                                                     aligned with their corporate ethos
                                                                                     of growth and renewal.
                                                                                       A pilot area outside the
                                                                                     administration  offices  was
                                                                                     requested  –  the  “Q  Design”
                                                                                     showcase  garden.  Once  this
                                                                                     space was approved, the client
                                                                                     commissioned  further  phases
                                                                                     including the staff parking, admin
                                                                                     office surrounds and later, the
                                                                                     truck entrance gardens at the new
                                                                                     warehouse.
