PROJECT
SIQALO FOODS
The Siqalo Foods project in East Boksburg represented more than just a landscape
upgrade – it was the transformation of an industrial site into a brand-inspired
showcase. Acton Gardens, in collaboration with Real Green, was tasked with creating
a bold, sustainable and cohesive landscape that tied together old structures with
new developments, while reflecting the company’s ethos of growth and renewal.

its stores and operations to this
factory site, and the relocation
included a complete redesign of
entrance gates, parking areas and
office spaces.
While the existing building
carried the weight of history, the
client wanted the landscaping to
deliver an immediate “wow” factor.
The renovation left some areas
stripped bare, while others were
overgrown and neglected. This
presented an opportunity to create
a cohesive landscape that not only
elevated the property but also
reflected the new brand identity.
Brief
The client’s brief was ‘clear yet
liberating’, according to Sarah
Vermaak, MD of Acton Gardens.
They wanted the landscape to
make a bold, lasting impression that
would uplift the older buildings
and tie them together with the
new construction. It needed to be
eye-catching, hard-wearing and
aligned with their corporate ethos
of growth and renewal.
A pilot area outside the
administration offices was
requested – the “Q Design”
showcase garden. Once this
space was approved, the client
commissioned further phases
including the staff parking, admin
office surrounds and later, the
truck entrance gardens at the new
warehouse.
