GOLF NEWS
e completed our yearly
hollow tining treatment HOLLOW TINING
Won Wednesday, 12 January
2022. The reason for this aeration
treatment is to enable the greens to
recover after a year of lots of golf being
played, making the surface hard and
compact – which, in essence, makes
drainage difficult. So, hollow tining
dethatches the greens and gives them
a more even roll. Silica sand is used to
regulate the pH levels on the greens,
making them healthier in preparation
for the upcoming year.
he time has arrived for the TH
biggest project to be undertaken 17 TEE RELOCATION
Tat Silver Lakes: the relocation
th
of the 17 tee box. We are excited to
report that progress is being made.
We’re certain that the change will
elicit some jaw-dropping reactions. The
decision to do the relocation was not
taken lightly, but a change was needed.
Matko Group and Timeless Golf are
on track to complete the project on
about 10 February 2022. The aim of the
redesign is to improve and modernise
th
the 17 hole.
e are well aware of the A MORE PLAYABLE COURSE
excessive rains that have
Wmade our beautiful golf
course unplayable. Therefore, we have
decided to allocate more strategic
positions for extra drains to be installed.
This will make the course more playable,
and hence more enjoyable for everyone.
Having these drains will help reduce the
amount of time the course will be closed
due to waterlogging. The Pretoria area
usually gets 750mm of rain per annum.
We received 1 000mm, making this a
record rainy season.
We are also aware of many other issues related to the golf course. We are prioritising these: more urgent matters will be attended to first
and minor issues will be dealt with at a later stage.
