ESTATE NEWS
Another resident whose green thumb has
become legendary is Ben. His bonsai garden
is a must-see, a collection of miniature
trees nurtured with care and patience. This
is a place where every corner is tended
with love and every resident plays a role in
cultivating a sense of home.
Leadership, diversity and care
Johan and his wife, the estate’s first
residents, hold a special place in its history.
Johan served as chairperson during the
formative years of the village, guiding
it to the magnificent home it is to many.
His leadership laid the foundation for the
community, and his wisdom will continue
to guide it today.
The estate also embraces diversity,
accommodating residents from all corners
of the world. Eberhard stayed for six
months before returning to Germany.
Oman, originally from Sudan, is another
resident whose worldly experiences add
depth to the estate’s cultural landscape.
His stories of travel and adventure inspire
others to embrace their own journeys,
reminding us that life’s richness comes not
just from where we live, but also from the
experiences that shape us.
In the heart of this community are Chrissie
and Ingrid, who manage the estate with
a balance of strength and care. Together,
they ensure the smooth operation of
the village and are always ready to lend
a hand or offer support. Ingrid, with her
ever-present cup of coffee, can be seen
making her rounds each morning, greeting
residents and offering a friendly smile. Her
presence is a comforting constant, making
sure no one is ever overlooked.
The conversations that unfold here are
as varied as the residents themselves. A
recent discussion centred on a Dikkop, the
bird guarding her eggs outside Francois’
house. Manie and Leentie, the loving
couple, even make nightly inspections to
ensure the safety of the little family. It’s
moments like this – where the care for
creatures, both large and small, is shared
by all – that make the estate feel like a true
home.
