Silver Lakes embarked on this venture with
Andrew and his family from the start. His
dedicated staff were ready and enthusiastic
about training young people in the art and
ethos of golf.

At ATA, students are trained not only in the
game itself, but also in everything to do
with golf, from the business side to fitting
technology and more. The comprehensive
course includes turf management as well
as a sports management qualification,
which prepares students thoroughly for
the industry. And still today, the academy
remains the only golf course manager
training facility in Africa.

In the early years, ATA catered for about
20 students a year; they had to attend the
course lectures here at Silver Lakes. As you
can guess, when Covid-19 emerged, online
education became the norm. This resulted
in an increased intake of students as they
were now able to participate in the ATA
programme via online courses.
