MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

THE ROSE

ith Valentines Day behind us, I was reminded of my first
Valentine’s Day at Silver Lakes, which was in February 2023.
WThose early months were challenging and there was plenty to
catch up on, sort out, and get moving.

Each year, the team and I stand at the gates on Valentine’s morning to
hand out small gifts to residents heading off to work, hoping to add a
bright moment to their day. That first year, while we were doing exactly
that, a young girl turned the tables on me and handed me a pink paper
rose she had made.

I never got her name, and I’m not sure if her family still lives in the estate.
But I kept that rose. It sits where I can see it, and on the tough days and
there are a few, it’s a simple reminder that the small things matter.

So, wherever you are: thank you. You reminded me that a thoughtful
gesture, no matter how small, can make a real difference. That’s something
worth remembering, whatever your age.
