Expertise offered for mandatory EPC
building compliance
utari, engineering consultants and trusted advisors with deep expertise in building
services, including building management systems, is offering to assist clients to meet
Zthe mandatory energy performance certification of their buildings.
According to new regulations for the mandatory display of energy performance
certificates (EPCs) of buildings, it is the responsibility of building owners to publicly display
an EPC at the entrance of their buildings, within two years of the regulations coming into
effect. The new regulations were promulgated in the Government Gazette on 8 December
2020.
Given the limited timeframe afforded to the building sector to comply, the South African
National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) has defined the process and undertaken
the development of tools and guidelines to prepare all stakeholders and enable the efficient
implementation of the EPC process.
The new legislation affects public buildings over 1000 m and private buildings over 2000
