NEW LAUNCH CITROEN
CITROEN C3
he unique feature of the Citroen
brand has always been “a touch
Tdifferent”, and the all-new C3 was
launched with the tagline “Freedom of
Expression.”
The new baby of the range is a much
smaller car than the previous model. It
immediately reminds me of the C2 model
from a few years ago. This deliberate move
from Citroen places the car as a value
proposition in the very affordable pricing
category. In fact, the new model is R70 000
cheaper than the previous version.
The new C3 certainly brings style to
the market, with edgy and body styling
that is more Crossover/SUV than small
hatch, emphasised by the 180mm ground
clearance. The taller stance also translates Bold exterior colour options (including includes wireless Apple Carplay and
into extra interior space, headroom and 2-tone, 2-colour options) for the interior Android Auto functionality add appeal for
boot space which measures 315L. and a 10” infotainment screen that the younger or first-time car buyer. Interior
comfort is typically French, with well-
bolstered seats.
The C3 is powered by a 3-cylinder
petrol engine providing 61kW and 115Nm
to the front wheels through a light and easy
5-speed manual transmission. As always
with this type of engine, it needs revs to
get up to speed but can buzz along easily
at the national speed limit. Handling is light
and easy in all aspects, with a smooth and
comfortable ride. Claimed fuel economy is
5.6l/100km.
A 5-year/100 000km warranty plus
2 year/30 000km service plan are included
in the price of R229 900. n
