Blue Valley Golf AGM
Unfortunately, the Golf Sections annual AGM
which was to be held on 7th April 2020 also
had to be postponed due to the lockdown.
As soon as we are over the current crisis, a
date will be set for the AGM to be held.
League
All league matches have also been put
on hold and postponed till further notice.
This includes the Ladies’ League, the Men’s
handicap and senior scratch league. We are
still awaiting information from the Gauteng
North Golf Union on the Junior League, the
Men’s Mid-Amateur League as well as the
Mixed League.
Anita Gouws
In closing, I would like to thank Anita Gouws
for all her hard work and dedication over
the past 18 years. Anita, who is a past Ladies’
Captain, is leaving Blue Valley for greener
pastures and will be basing herself on the
east side of Pretoria near Pebble Rock. Bon
voyage Anita, and good luck for the future.

Golf Rule of the month: Rule 18.2a
When Ball is Lost or Out of Bounds
(1) When ball is lost: a ball is lost if not found
within three minutes of the player or his/her
caddie beginning to search for it. If a ball is
found in that time but it is uncertain whether
it is the players ball:
• the player must promptly attempt to
identify the ball and is allowed a reasonable
time to do so, even if that happens after
the three-minute search time has ended.
• this includes a reasonable time to get to
the ball if the player is not where the ball is
found.
If the player does not identify his/her ball in
that reasonable time, the ball is lost.
(2) When ball is out of bounds. A ball at rest
is out of bounds only when all of it is outside
the boundary edge of the course.
A player may stand out of bounds to play a
ball on the course.
Rule 18.2b; What to do when a ball is lost or
Club Captain Trevor Currie with 2020 Men’s Club Champion Dave Graziani and his trophy

must take stroke and distance relief by
adding one penalty stroke and playing the
original ball or another ball from where the
previous stroke was made.
Note:
• At Blue Valley there is NO local rule that
changes the above Stroke and Distance
rule for Out of Bounds.
• At Blue Valley there is NO placing.
Look forward to seeing all of you on the
