MESSAGE FROM THE
CHAIRPERSON
happy and prosperous 2021. The start of a new day, week
or month usually comes with reflections on our short-term
A lessons, needs and targets. The start of a new year is different
– it makes us reflect on how far we have come and where we are
going in the long term. Moreover, we are usually cognisant of the
fact that we are also a year older and we should be wiser in the new
year!
The emergence and impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 also
brought in the so called ‘new normal’ everywhere, increasing the
Safest, Secure with demands for us to have better reflections on the past year and more
resolute commitments to be wiser for the new year and beyond.
VISION Distinguishable Unfortunately, for the BVHOA board, we only had six months to
Lifestyle
reflect in 2020 and six months in 2021 to do what we have to do.
The 2020 and beyond strategy we set and started implementing
is now in the phase that focuses on consolidating our estate
management resources and ensures that there is compliance with
businesses processes and procedures, to ensure sustainable service
delivery.
In the last six months, we have notably:
Deliver uninterrupted • Developed a clear vision, mission and strategy, the implementation
& sustainable services of which is in progress;
MISSION that meet Homeowners • Ramped up our cooperation with the estate developer, leading to
the commissioning of the refurbishment of our common facilities;
needs • Of note is the timely (before Christmas) completion of Phase 1
of the clubhouse refurbishment which has brought much joy
and a sense of hope for a better lifestyle: the developer has also
brought in much-awaited changes to the restaurant operator,
whose improved services we are enjoying;
• Sustained service delivery in the key service areas of infrastructure/
facilities maintenance, landscaping and security;
• Review of our service level specifications and our procurement
policy to address (ongoing) blockages that have impeded our
VALUES • Addressed in-house capacity (human and systems) challenges,
procurement needs;
and gaps are being closed.
With our 2021 budget and targets approved without any levy
increase, our last mile, six months to the end of our term, will focus
on consolidating our estate management capacity in both human
and systems resources. This is to enable us, and the next board, to
deliver on these targets and sustain service delivery.
Let me end by reiterating the commitment of this board to our
vision and mission, and continued implementation of the strategy
developed and communicated. These are now supported by the five
START values that will have now been consolidated to ensure that
we stay on track to deliver services that protect and maintain our
common interests. BV
Yours in service
