RARE SIGHTING IN THE

RIETVLEI NATURE RESERVE

I was very lucky to see and photograph a flamboyance of seven flamingos that paid a short visit to
Rietvlei on 19 March. I suppose, as an avid bird photographer, one lives for these unique moments,
as American photographer Ansel Adams said, "Chance favours the prepared mind".
Well, I wouldn't claim to be totally prepared but at least I got a passable image of a flamingo
silhouetted high against the clouds over Rietvlei at sunset.
