HUMAN AND
ANIMAL RIGHTS
ach year in March, we’re asked to reflect on and recognise
Human Rights. But it’s a concept that seems to keep slipping
through the cracks. When ones considers human trafficking,
Eracism, religious fanaticism, discrimination in terms of gender
or sexual orientation, and bullying – no wonder there’s so much
stress and anxiety manifested in our fast-paced lives.
Anxiety is a condition that affects many of us, which is why it’s also
a topic of discussion in our DCA Youth Forum consultations. The
forum is making tremendous progress in identifying and addressing
this condition and similar problems that our youth are experiencing,
and in their article this month, Montana Robinson tells us more
about what they discussed at their February meeting. We would
like to encourage more of our precinct’s teens and young adults to
join these get-togethers. They’re beneficial if you’re experiencing
problems and, at the same time, they present an excellent chance to
network and make new friends.
Networking has for generations been dubbed as the No.1 gateway
through which one can step to find/identify and expand opportunities.
It’s no mistake that some of the world’s greatest achievements have
been realised through brain-storming, think-tanking and networking
– Microsoft, Apple Computers, Facebook, Google, Tesla – there may
have been strong personalities driving these visions, but a lot of the
innovation happened late at night in dorms, at coffee shops or even
at wild parties with input from a wide circle of contacts. March, and the King of the Whip Contest due to take place mid-April
