xcitement and anticipation was tangible
in the air on the morning of 27 February
2021, as we were getting ready for the
launch of the Skills Development Centre
Eat the Thabo Mbeki Informal settlement.
The team had been working tirelessly to get the
property ready for the big day.
Numerous leaders and sponsors from the
community attended the launch, including Peter
Venter from Tower Group, and his fiancé Sue
Franco from Viton Research Solutions, who have
been involved in the community for the last 10
years. They were extremely excited to see the
dream and the vision for this community project
materialising.
The Skills Development Centre’s main focus will be
to bring higher learning to the community. Statistics
show that although South Africa had a pass rate
of 81.3 %, only 44.55% of the Matrics qualify for
a Bachelor’s Degree. The main universities only Peter Venter from Tower Group addresses the guests
