         FOURWAYS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT

MANAGING THE OPEN SPACES AND IMPROVING THE FUNCTIONALITY

OF TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND STREETLIGHTS IN COOPERATION AND

         PARTNERSHIP WITH GOVERNMENT

In February 2024 a team of like-
            minded individuals got together with
Mike Pienaar of Fourways Mall, with a
        Icommon vision to improve customer
        experiences by assisting Government
        in addressing the urban management
and service delivery challenges in the
public spaces in the Greater Fourways
area. This vision focused on establishing
        an improvement district, the Fourways
Improvement District (FID), to manage the
open spaces and improve the functionality of
traffic lights and streetlights in cooperation
        and partnership with Government.

The Broadacres Drive Association (BDA) saw
the value of not only creating a more secure

        The Fourways Improvement District was

through a registered section 21 Non-
Profit Company (NPC) governed by a
        non-executive Board of Directors and
reporting to a stakeholder committee. The
directors and stakeholder committee are all
        representatives of companies or property
owners who contribute to the district and
have a vested interest in its success and
        growth.

The improvement district aims to provide,
        inter alia, well-managed cleaning,
        landscaping, maintenance, and security
services in a defined area along three
