The hide has been thoroughly sanitised and
is cleaned once a week so that it’s in good
condition for evening and weekend use.
Limited lighting is or will be in place, with
strict rules regarding the evening (or even
daily) use of the hide to follow.

The steps to the hide have been fixed to
provide safer access to the viewing deck.
Litter bins are being cleared and cleaned
regularly. Please ensure that you all keep
the area as clean and tidy as you find it. It’s
not too much to ask, and it is the right thing
to do to show respect for the efforts of the
teams involved with the area’s maintenance,
         and our fellow residents.

We’ve begun an ongoing process of
addressing the alien and invasive vegetation
in the Nature Reserve. Many indigenous trees
have been planted, with the assistance of one
of our estate agents. Numerous residents
         have bought/adopted indigenous trees and
these will be planted in pre-dug holes. Many
plants in the reserve have been rescued from
concrete developments in the area, and this
         practice will continue where appropriate.

         Unsightly irrigation/water pipes have
been or will be removed, and a water leak
around the irrigation pipes at the hide has
been repaired. A tap has been placed at the
hide for the use of maintenance teams and
residents. Please ensure it is closed after use
         and kept in good order.

Dead branches have been removed from the
area outside the hide, and some dead wood,
alien vegetation, glass and plastic have also
been removed from the areas closest to the
         hide.

         Improving communication
We’re working on ways for residents to
         channel concerns or suggestions regarding
the Nature Reserve, and intend to give
residents far more feedback and information
         about the area.

We trust that this article has enlightened you
on the happenings and envisaged future of
the reserve. It is far from perfect, but we trust
you will be as excited as the HOA is about
monitoring and becoming involved in the
future, of what is our/your Nature Reserve.

Happy holidays and don’t forget to
         ‘smell the roses’.
