QUIZ NIGHT

ugust brought us another packed Quiz
Night venue and what a fun evening was
in store with Quiz Master Dayle! While our
Aregulars made sure to have their mascots
that met the requirements with them (non-living,
with a face and eyes) other teams fashioned mascots
from whatever was at their disposal and creativity
allowed!

With cash prizes, a tempting lucky draw hamper and
the coveted floating brain trophy up front at the Quiz
Master’s table, we were ready to get going! Dayle
reminded us of the rules, and the Quiz kicked off
without delay! As always, many topics were covered,
and the curated quiz questions got us putting on our
thinking caps to answer the obscure and deceivingly
easy questions. The music round showed the staying
power of some artists and songs, while less obvious
hits questioned our music trivia knowledge!

After the last round, it was time for Dayle to audit the
scores, answers and totals and we arrived at another
tie-break, as we do so often with the Fourways
Gardens Quiz Night! This month’s tiebreaker question
was “At any given time, how many people are in the
sky at any given moment?”. The team representatives
for Team of the Month and The Drinking Cubs gave
answers of 1.2 million and 3 million respectively.
Team of the Month’s 1.2 million people answer gave
them the edge and they claimed second place by
1 point, a mere 1 point behind Team Horny Rhino who
clinched first place. The Drinking Cubs’ impressive
59-point total would have seen them win with lesser
competition, however, on this occasion, it afforded
them a third-place ranking.

The lucky draw winner nearly missed his prize, having
stepped out of the room briefly, and making his
appearance just in time to prevent a redraw!
