CLUB OUTING

TO ALETTE’S

RUSKS

pril saw the Classics Club embark
on its first official outing – and
what a delicious debut it was!
ANearly 30 members descended
on Alette’s Rusks factory in Honeydew, and
the hospitality was as warm as their ovens.

Jaco, our charismatic guide, walked us
through the history and heartbeat of
the factory, sharing how Tannie Alette’s
legacy lives on in every crunchy bite. From
kneading dough to packaging perfection,
we witnessed the craftsmanship that makes
these rusks a household favourite.

Each attendee left with a thoughtfully
packed goodie bag, a gesture that echoed
the same generosity we highlighted in our
November 2024 article on the Koeksister
Charity Bake-Off. It’s clear that whether we
meet in a tearoom or a rusk factory, our
Club is always welcomed with open arms.

The outing was a charming blend of
nostalgia and discovery, and a reminder of
what happens when passion and tradition
come together. We hope to make outings
a more regular feature, building on this
memorable day.
