s a teenager growing up in South Africa,
I was fortunate to witness a remarkable
Achapter in our nation’s history. It was a
time when our beloved country was emerging
from the shadows of apartheid, and the world was
watching with keen interest. The first democratic
elections in 1994 marked a pivotal moment, and
the Rugby World Cup of 1995 arrived hot on its
heels.
A palpable sense of transformation marked the
mid-1990s. As a 16-year-old, I didn’t fully grasp the
complexity of our nation’s history. I was still piecing
together the jigsaw puzzle of a nation that was
finding its way. The wounds were still fresh, but the
hopes were high.
