ittle Kickers classes introduce
Lfootball to children aged from 18
months up to Grade 3. The programme
was developed by a group of FA qual-
ified coaches and pre-school teach-
ers. As a result, rather than focusing
purely on football, the programme
incorporates a number of early learning
goals. Valuable concepts such as shar-
ing and teamwork are introduced in a
fun environment. The classes also en-
able children to develop co-ordination,
agility and balance, and early learning
concepts such as colours and numbers
are gently introduced through football.
The football equipment used is realistic
and child friendly.
OVERVIEW OF THE LITTLE
KICKERS ACTIVITY PROGRAMME
Ball skills classes are run for four
distinct age groups:
18 months – 2.5 years
“Little Kicks”
2.5 – 4 years
“Junior Kickers”
4 – 6years
“Mighty Kickers”
6 years – Grade 3
“Mega Kickers”
A maximum of eight to ten children
participate in each class. Our normal
ratio is one coach to eight children,
however with the Little Kicks, we
have a ratio of one coach to five
children.
At Kyalami Estates, we train on Mon-
day and Wednesday afternoons at
the soccer fields. Team mates have
become friends as they are training
with their neighbours, and children
are building long term friendships
with their fellow estate families.
