RECREATION FEATURE

             Climbing grips allow children to ascend the mounds

           based on its action, intended use and
           space requirements. This ensured that Swing elements for use by smaller children
           all elements could be enjoyed safely. The
           following details are noteworthy:
           • the formation of the mounds was
             achieved by using G6 material (or void
             formers) over the basement slab area.
             This was then covered by a reinforced
             concrete shell.  Jiggs were manufactured
             and used to create perfect, rounded
             mounds;
           • the EPDM rubber granules of the safety
             flooring are underlain by a rubber shock
             pad of 30 mm (also wet poured);
           • EPDM colour shades had to be ‘design
             engineered’ with restricted colours
             available. Due to Covid and the
             restricted time limit for the project’s
             installation, no import could take place;
           • the large sand coloured area is
             experienced directly upon entering the
             space and this surface was compiled
             from a mix of two colours of spectrum
             rubber safety flooring;
           • orange was incorporated as a vibrant,
             contrasting colour and is repeated in
             some of the steel elements;
           • a flowing blue colour simulates the
             effect of a river with mounds in different
             green and teal blue colours protruding
             from the green surround;
           •  X-Tyre, the sub-contractor for the safety
             flooring, selected all available stock in
             the country, ensuring that colour mixes
             allowed for variance in design;
