                 ne of the mall’s main attractions
                 is  The Marketplace, a central
           Oentertainment space with striking
           architecture, greenery, trees, mural art,
           a children’s play area, giant chess board
           and communal seating.

           Landscape architect  Tiaan Laker was
           briefed to provide detailed landscaping
           at the three entrances to the mall.  The
           main entrance was to have a zero level
           water feature, seating and exhibition
           space. Detail planting was to be provided
           along the embankment in order to create
           visual appeal and control erosion.

           Landscape design philosophy
           The colour palette used in the architecture
           and development was emulated and
           enhanced  in  the  landscape  design  by
           means  of  the  plant  material,  paving
           finishes and finishes to the planters. This
           was done in collaboration with the client,
           spearheaded by the Moolman Group,
           and the architects, in order to provide an
           aesthetically pleasing, visually striking
           and practically integrated end product.
