The Hills Game Reserve Estate in Rietfontein, illstead Estate consists of two parts:
Hillstead North and Hillstead South.

The client had specific requirements for the
landscaping, requiring lush, indigenous
planting that would complement the
Agapanthus in bloom at the Hillstead North entrance surrounding aesthetics and give the
complex a naturalistic feel. To achieve this,
it was important to ensure that the plant
coverage was high and that larger trees and
plants were used in the initial installation. In
addition, the developer wanted to promote
the units by showing off mature gardens,
so it was crucial to create show gardens at
those units being used for selling purposes.
As the construction of the units progressed,
it was necessary to coordinate the
installation of the landscapes with the
developer’s schedule. This meant that there
were often extensive periods of time where
the installation had to be put on hold until
the construction was completed. Despite
these challenges, the garden group was
able to work closely with the developer
to ensure that the final product met the
client’s expectations and created a beautiful
and cohesive landscape for the complex.

The garden group was responsible for the
following scope of work:
*ripping and soil preparation;
*creation of berms in common areas;
*ripping and soil preparation of units’
gardens;
