picnics, with planted beds bringing more
           natural elements into the park.
A central meeting spot has been built up
and is elevated, serving as a view point
overlooking the entire park and surrounding
area. This element was introduced into the
design following a request for a mini stage
or amphitheatre for gatherings or events.
The large entrance wall was deliberately
designed to have a flat background which,
at a later stage, will be established as a space
for schools and residents to plan movies in
the park. The wall will serve as a platform
where a larger white cloth can be hung, from
which movies will be projected. This wall Signage in the outdoor gym area
now also serves as a commemoration to the
late President, Nelson Mandela, as a mural Gym equipment

           The multi-purpose court design accom-
           modates basketball, netball and soccer,
and is surrounded by safety netting. It is
well suited to children of 10 – 17 years of
age. Play equipment installed is suited to
children from 5 – 13 years of age, who make
up the majority of children in the area.
The park has a new irrigation system with
a valve box, seven gear drives and three
sprinklers which easily reach the entire
surface area of the park. Municipal water is
           used.

Paved pathways have been designed to
provide ease of access to all the areas of the
park, which also allow open visibility to the
entire area. The park has been completely
enclosed by fencing to ensure the visibility
           and safety of users.
