GOLF NEWS
NEW BRIDGE ON THE 9 HOLE
TH
he bridge was originally constructed in
1993 but was washed away by flooding that
Toccurred on 11 January 2021.
Faan van der Walt (We Buy Cars) came to the
rescue this year by making a generous donation
for the express purpose of rebuilding the bridge –
we thank him for this.
The bridge crossing the 9 dam has always stood
th
out for golfers playing at Silver Lakes. Whether
they’ve hit a great shot or the ball landed in the
water, once on this bridge, golfers will forget
about everything and just enjoy the walk.
Golfers have missed the bridge over the past three First construction of the bridge in 1993
years and are so happy to see it restored.
We’ve made some changes to the bridge, such as
using pylons filled with cement rather than having
normal wooden poles like for the old bridge. This
means that the new bridge will be able to take a
lot of punishment.
We would like to thank VIP Consulting Engineers
and Shaza Worx for the great job they’ve done in
rebuilding our beloved bridge.
