7. Know your pet’s limits
Breed sensitivity: Certain breeds, like
brachycephalic dogs (e.g., Bulldogs,
Pugs, Boxers), are especially prone
to overheating. Adjust their outdoor
activities accordingly, and consider
skipping walks during extreme heat.
8. Watch for heatstroke
Recognise the signs: Be alert for
symptoms such as excessive panting,
vomiting, diarrhoea, unsteady walking, or
lethargy.
Act quickly: If you suspect heatstroke,
move your pet to a cooler area, offer
water, and contact a vet immediately.
