Kalahari Tented Camp is a remote getaway for
adventurous families. The 15 desert tents are
decorated with rustic finishes using wood, sand
and canvas exteriors. They are 3km from the
Mata-Mata Rest Camp, where Kalahari Tented
Camp residents can refuel and get basic supplies
at the shop.

Mata-Mata Rest Camp is a popular camp
and offers a range of accommodation types,
including chalets, family chalets and campsites.
The camp borders Namibia and is surrounded
by Kalahari dune bushveld. There is a reception
office, swimming pool, shop and fuel facilities. A
generator provides electricity for 16.5 hours a day
and there is no telephone or cellphone reception.

rooms comprise double and twin rooms, family

Champagne Sports Resort has activities that

The website calls it “a piece of paradise on the Legacy Wilderness Dunes beachfront chalet. Photos Legacy
Garden Route”. Situated on a 9km stretch of
beach, Wilderness Dunes is a great getaway for
a family. Six-, eight- and 10-sleeper chalets with
lofts are set in a resort-style village. A children’s
playground and a games room are engaging and
safe spaces for youngsters and, as most parents
know, when the children are entertained, it’s a
relaxing holiday for mom and dad.

The village offers a swimming pool, tennis,
trampolines and, of course, beach walks and
fishing are also popular family activities. Whale-
spotting is possible in season.

Off-site, guests can enjoy visits to local markets,
many scenic beaches, restaurants and Red Berry
Farm, all close by. Those willing to venture a
little further have all the delights of the beautiful
Garden Route to look forward to.
