FAST FACTS ABOUT THE DELOITTE BUILDING
• 3 000m² of backfilling was used – enough to fill 5.5 Olympic-sized
swimming pools.
• 20 000m² of formwork was used during construction, equivalent
to 29 soccer fields.
• 4 884 tons of reinforced steel was used – equivalent to the weight
of 814 male elephants or 5 426 Springbok rugby scrums.
• Over 50 000m² of concrete was used during the construction –
equivalent to 8 333 concrete trucks placed end-to-end for 58km.
• The building has 605 doors, 15 elevators and 4 escalators.
• 75% of the construction waste was re-used or recycled.
