THE AMAZING RACE
WATERFALL CITY
A day of adventure and camaraderie
L ast month Waterfall City
was transformed into a hub
of excitement as it played
host to its very own version
of The Amazing Race – a thrilling
scavenger hunt that took adventure
and teamwork to the next level.
The adventure begins
There were 56 teams of two to five
people – comprising friends, families, and
corporate groups – who entered the race
with nothing but a smartphone app to
guide them through the City’s Hotspots.
From there, it was a mad dash to solve
clues, complete challenges, and make it
to the finish line. Participants embarked
on a journey of exploration and fun,
solving puzzles and discovering hidden
gems all while racing against the clock.
Equipped with Amazing Race T-shirts,
bright pink Estée Lauder Breast Cancer
Awareness caps, and a goodie bag
filled with gifts from brands like Aurora
Aesthetics & Sculpting Studio, Douwe
Egbert, WAXIT, Switch Energy, and
Waterfall City, the teams were ready to
go! As Marketing Coordinator Chanté van
den Berg fondly recalls, “You could see
pink hats bopping in and out of Waterfall
City Park, running through Mall of Africa,
and even in cars stuck in traffic. It was
such a great sight!”
Hotspots: Where the fun got
real
The real magic of the event happened
at the 12 Hotspots – each designed
to challenge the participants in
unique and entertaining ways. One
of the many Hotspots was FireOps
SA, where contestants got a taste of
real firefighting drills. It was an action-
packed stop from flipping tyres to
spraying teammates with hoses.
