ADVERTORIAL
ESTATE GARDENS
The king of spring
are definitely the
plant of the month.
hey are easy to grow, great for shade,
uses water sparingly, and if protected
Tfrom the worst winter cold, will warm
the cockles of one’s heart with its glowing
flowers, later turning into very ornamental
seeds in a warm, rusty-red shade – the one
indigenous plant that reassures us that there
is something like gardening ubuntu out there!
Clivias are making a huge comeback and are
all the rage lately with gardeners! I wonder
how many residents have witnessed the
amazing orange colour splashed across our
estate? It is with Clivia miniata that the most
exciting colours and forms are to be found.
Some interesting forms of Clivia miniata
include yellow, cream and the Belgian hybrids,
known for their deep red flowers, protruding
stamens and broad, thick leaves.
Enjoy the following photos of Clivias taken in
our Valley! We are truly blessed!! A special
thanks to Sue Elmira who will be passing on
some yellow seeds to us, so watch this space
for next year!!!
