PEUGEOT SA LAUNCH
research, 50% of bakkies sold in SA fall into
the category of 100 - 120kW so they have
chosen their segment very carefully.
Both models come highly specced as
standard, aiming squarely at the popular
and lucrative leisure market. Active
cruise control, lane keeping assist and
6 airbags are some of the features. The
4x4 version adds a 360 degree camera
system that is fantastic for off-roading
situations - either showing the path in
front of the vehicle, or able to show the
wheels on either side.
The Landtrek is a large vehicle. It is
5.3m long, 1.9m high and the 4x4 model has
235mm of ground clearance. Yet, both on
the road and on a challenging 4x4 course, it
proved light, easy and surprisingly agile.
As an indication of fuel consumption,
during the road section of the launch drive,
the 4x2 showed 8.6l/100km and the 4x4
8.9l/100km.
Although many questioned the 110kW as
being on the low side, I never felt that it was
lacking in power on the road and managed
of number of overtaking manoeuvres with
ease. The same applied to tackling the 4x4
course.
Launch prices are R579 900 for the 4x2
Allure, and R669 900 for the 4x4 Active.
A 5-year/100 00km warranty and
5-year/100 000km service plan are
included. n
There will be more models added to the range but at this stage the launch was of the Double
Cab in 4x2 and 4x4 variants. Click here to watch our full video
