of relationship with their coach. I am also
fortunate to have a second internationally
renowned rhythmic gymnastics coach,
Tsvetina Misheva, who annually designs all
my routines in ball, ribbon, clubs and hoop. I
train with her in Bulgaria for three weeks each
year and she visits SA too. Beyond that, all my
amazing friends and my boyfriend understand
my rhythmic gymnast career commitment and
support me wholeheartedly.
What are your future plans/dreams for your
career and for rhythmic gymnastics?
My next goal is the World Championships
2021 this October in Japan. The trials for the
World Championships were used as a squad
selection and, because I was placed first, I am
currently in line to be one of the two athletes
to be selected. The World Championships, in
turn, will be used as a selection process by
SASCOC for the 2022 Commonwealth Games
in Birmingham. Thus, I am currently focussing
my training on having a clean and perfect
performance.
I am still unsure what my future beyond this
holds, because rhythmic gymnastics is a sport
that has a limited time span due to the rigours
we put our bodies through. I am still deciding
whether I will try for the 2024 Olympic Games
in Paris, as to compete in the Olympic Games
is any sports person’s dream! My ultimate goal
is to compete at the Olympic Games as well as
the Commonwealth Games.
