Initiative
their efforts, they aim to bring warmth and
comfort to those in need, particularly during
the colder months.
In 2022, the Dainfern KnitWits joined forces
with 67 Blankets. They took on an even greater
challenge – The Rainbow Nation Blankets
of Hope project, in collaboration with the
esteemed Gift of the Givers. On 11 May 2022,
these blankets were proudly displayed at
Steyn City School as a heartfelt tribute to the
modern-day heroes—the frontline workers.
Gift of the Givers has graciously taken on the
responsibility of distributing these blankets
to those in need, spreading hope and love
throughout the country.
The collective efforts of the Dainfern KnitWits
have already resulted in over a thousand
blankets being contributed to the 67 Blankets
cause. Beyond the numbers, this initiative
has fostered a strong sense of community
and forged lifelong friendships among its
members.
As Nelson Mandela Day approaches, the
Dainfern KnitWits humbly call upon the
support of Dainfern residents. They extend
a warm invitation to become part of their
close-knit (see what we did there?) 67
Blankets family. Whether individuals have
spare time and want to make a positive
impact or wish to contribute through
donations of wool, their involvement will be
greatly appreciated.
Together, the Dainfern KnitWits and the
residents of Dainfern can make this upcoming
Nelson Mandela Day an unforgettable
occasion filled with warmth, compassion, and
a true sense of community.
