WINE FAIR AT
FOURWAYS
GARDENS
Saturday 17 September 2022
he one-month hiatus in the Wine
Fair calendar showed that the adage
‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’
Tis indeed true at Fourways Gardens!
Perfect weather paired with superlative
inducing wines facilitated a superb Wine Fair
made even more special by the talented Leoté
bringing her rich and soulful repertoire to help
us while away the hours.
Four farms – Allesverloren, Bosman, Glenelly and
Kleine Zalze – presented a range of twenty-two
(22!) wines. Even the most intrepid oenophile
had to demonstrate commitment to the cause to
appreciate the many wines on offer.
Pro tip: start with the bubbly, white wines and
rosé before the heavier and hard-hitting reds!
Without further ado, we can confidently
announce the must-have wines for summer from
this tasting: Bosman Generation 8 Rosé and Kleine
Zalze Non-Vintage Brut Rosé MCC led the pack,
while people also put their money where their
mouths are with a strong showing for Glenelly
Glass Collection Unwooded Chardonnay and the
Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Chenin Blanc.
Tyson’s ever-popular hamper with two Glenelly
Wines was won by Rob Slater and, in keeping with
the Bumper Wine Fair, the Tyson conveyancer,
Schindler’s, sponsored a hamper which was won
by Rohan Baboolal.
Although there was no wine fair in October owing
to the Clubhouse renovations, we are excited that
November’s Wine Fair will be an exceptional event
to cap a year of eager and diverse wine tastings!
