WINE FAIR
Saturday 11 March 2023
ur wine fair boasted samplings from over 10 wine
farms and 50 different wines! With a traditional
tasting of 60ml per wine, a full tasting of each wine
Owould have seen the consumption of four bottles per
person! Faced with this task, our wine tasters had to be selective,
which was tough because they were so spoiled for choice! On
this sunny Saturday afternoon, refreshing white wines, icy rosés
and crisp bubbles were the order of the day.
Flanking the main entrance were the wines of Delaire Graff
– luxury in a bottle – and Anthonij Rupert Wines with their
L’Ormarins MCC taking pride of place.
Villiera showcased their newest MCC, Pearls of Nectar and
Thelma offered a delectable dessert wine – their Muscat Vin de
Hel late harvest. Refusing to be upstaged, Sutherland showed
why Elgin is the perfect terroir for Pinot Noir.
Fat Bastard surprised us with a superb array of wines showing
the versatility of this popular producer. At the same time, Spier
introduced their Seaward range, with a few repeat tastings of
their Brut MCC and Secret Sparkling!
Bosman wine’s generation 8 Merlot and Rosé were on top form.
