Best Interior Plantscaping: Conmar Horticulture for Town
Lodge Umhlanga Best Novice Entry: Cherry Lime Landscaping for Sports Grounds:
Using carefully selected trailing plants, the design of this interior plantscaping NWU Mafikeng Campus
project adds a splash of green to the interior and brightens the space. The The landscaper inherited a site that needed extreme rehabilitation, even though
overall effect is calming and peaceful, with pleasing colour contrasts achieved they were contracted for maintenance. Nevertheless, they have managed to
through the choice of plants. A professional installation that offers good resuscitate and develop a programme that has seen the site not only look good
screening and creates a division in a large room, as requested by the client. but become useful as well. At his own expense, the contractor went the extra
mile for the client to ensure that the desired results were attained. There was
positive feedback from the client and it is this type of commitment that really
grows and uplifts the industry.
Mayford Trophy for the Best Use of Colour in the Landscape: GvH
Landscapes for House Halamandres
House Halamandres, sitting on the edge of the ocean, is a solid concrete beast with a
very odd style of architecture. A clever selection and positioning of plants exposes
the architecture but also softens it through a variety of foliage and flower colour that
changes consistently throughout the year, as the seasons change. From a distance, the
colour of cascading plants on the roof garden meet their companion carpet plants on the
ground, leading to a pathway and then to the main entrance of the house. In the front of
the garden and at the backyard, there is an emphasis on the accent plants to bracket the
ocean view and redefine the spaces in the three different levels of the garden leading to
the beach. An excellent display of plant knowledge and a vibrant colour pallett by GvH
Landscapes.
